Azleet has emerged as a strong contender for the Betfred 1000 Guineas after securing a surprise win in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes. The three-year-old, trained by Stuart Williams, overcame a 50-1 odds to claim victory in the seven-furlong contest. Despite being settled at the rear of the 12-strong field, Azleet made a remarkable move inside the last three furlongs and found her stride on the rising ground.
She fought off America Queen in the final half-furlong to prevail by a neck, with Act Of Kindness finishing a length and a half behind in third. Williams expressed his excitement about Azleet's potential, stating that they will take a chance in the 1000 Guineas.
The trainer attributed Azleet's success to her high-class ability and the brilliant ride given by Marco Ghiani. Meanwhile, Richard Hughes-trained America Queen will head to France for her shot at Classic glory at ParisLongchamp. Charlie Appleby is considering targeting a Listed prize at York with Act Of Kindness, who he believes could excel later in the season. In other news, Damysus made a dominant comeback in the Betway Earl of Sefton Stakes, while Morshdi announced himself as a Derby contender with victory in the Betway Feilden Stakes.
