Bromley's ascent to League One has been postponed once again after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Cambridge United at Hayes Lane. Cambridge had several early chances, with Ben Knight and Dominic Ball both missing opportunities to score within the first 15 minutes.
Bromley's first chance came after 25 minutes, when Omar Sownunmi's header sailed over the crossbar, with goalkeeper Jack Walton beaten. Cambridge had another chance on the half-hour mark, but Shayne Lavery's header from Adam Mayor's cross hit the bar. The second half took time to gain momentum, but Knight's powerful drive drew a sharp save from Grant Smith.
This prompted a response from the hosts, with Ben Thompson's effort from close range saved by Walton, and Jude Arthurs' follow-up chance deflected over. With 10 minutes left, Smith made a brilliant save to tip Kelland Watts' header over, but despite a late goalmouth scramble, neither team could find a breakthrough.
