Brodie Croft's impressive four-try display propelled Leeds Rhinos to a resounding 56-22 win over Huddersfield Giants at the Accu Stadium, catapulting the Rhinos to the top of the Super League table on points difference. The Giants, now sitting in 11th place, had entered the match on a high note following wins against Wigan Warriors and York Knights after the departure of head coach Luke Robinson, with assistant coach Liam Finn taking temporary charge.
However, Leeds proved too formidable, extending their winning streak to three games. Initially, Huddersfield showed promise, with George King scoring an early try, but the visitors soon took control, scoring rapidly and sealing the win before halftime.
Croft opened the scoring for Leeds, followed by Jarrod O'Connor, who showcased his game intelligence to put his side ahead. James McDonnell's precise pass then set up Jack Bird for a try, before Ryan Hall achieved a milestone 250th try for Leeds.
The first half concluded with the Giants trailing 28-10, despite Jacob Dougles' late try. In the second half, Leeds maintained their momentum, with Cameron Smith and Croft adding to the tally. Although Huddersfield fought back through Jacob Gagai, Maika Sivo and Croft further extended Leeds' lead, with the latter scoring his fourth try.
Olly Russell's late try for the hosts came too late to alter the outcome. Post-match, Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur expressed his disappointment with the team's defensive performance, emphasizing the need for 'urgency and desperation' and stating that it was 'not good enough.'
