According to Sky Sports Tennis analyst Laura Robson, British tennis player Jack Draper should avoid competing in the French Open without adequate preparation. Draper recently withdrew from ATP events in Madrid and Rome due to a knee injury. He retired from the Barcelona Open first-round match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry because of the issue in his right knee.
Despite this setback, Draper aims to participate in the year's second Grand Slam at Roland-Garros in May. Robson believes it is crucial for Draper to get sufficient practice before the tournament, as entering a best-of-five match situation undercooked could put him at a disadvantage.
Draper is expected to target events in Hamburg or Geneva, the week before the French Open, to get some much-needed practice. Meanwhile, fellow British player Emma Raducanu has also withdrawn from the Madrid Open as she continues to recover from post-viral symptoms. Raducanu is back in training and hopes to play in Rome at the start of May.
