Alycia Baumgardner believes Caroline Dubois must further establish herself as a champion before she will consider a fight against the unified lightweight world champion. Baumgardner is set to defend her unified WBA, WBO, and IBF super-featherweight world titles against Bo Mi Re Shin.
Following her recent victory over Terri Harper, Dubois called out Baumgardner for a high-profile match. However, Baumgardner thinks Dubois needs to build her reputation more, saying, 'She needs to put some more skin in the game... I've done my part, I've shown plenty of times that I put on great shows and I became undisputed.' Baumgardner's promoter suggests she could become the undisputed champion at super-featherweight again, with a potential fight against WBC belt-holder Caroline Veyre. Meanwhile, Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promoters, advises Dubois to focus on her own division first, suggesting a fight against Stephanie Han, who is set to face Holly Holm.
Bidarian's company aims to establish the deepest roster of talent in women's boxing, with over 45 fighters, including 16 world champions. Baumgardner's upcoming fight will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Action and Main Event from 3am on Saturday.
