In a dominant display, Leeds Rhinos secured a 56-22 victory over Huddersfield Giants in the eighth round of the Super League at the Accu Stadium, with Brodie Croft scoring four tries. This win propelled the Rhinos to the top of the Super League table on points difference, while the Giants dropped to 11th place. Huddersfield, who had recently dismissed their head coach Luke Robinson, saw assistant coach Liam Finn take temporary charge.

They entered the match on a high note, having won against Wigan Warriors and York Knights. However, their winning streak was short-lived as Leeds proved too strong, extending their own winning streak to three games. Initially, it seemed Huddersfield might continue their winning run when Lachie Miller kicked out on the full, and George King scored an early lead for the home team. Nevertheless, Leeds quickly took control, scoring rapidly and relentlessly to seal the match before halftime.

Croft initiated the scoring for Leeds, followed by Jarrod O'Connor, who showcased his game intelligence to put his team ahead. James McDonnell's pass then enabled Jack Bird to score, preceding a milestone moment when Ryan Hall, using his close-range strength, achieved his 250th try for Leeds.

Miller added to Leeds' dominant first half with a smart chip that he chased down himself. Just before the break, the Giants managed to respond with Jacob Dougles scoring in the corner, but they still trailed 28-10 at halftime. In the second half, Leeds continued their momentum, with Cameron Smith benefiting from a 40/20 by Jake Connor, and Croft scoring his second try. Soon after, Croft completed his hat-trick, but Huddersfield fought back through Jacob Gagai.

Maika Sivo extended his try-scoring tally, and Croft used his agile footwork to score his fourth try. Although Olly Russell scored late for the hosts, it was too little, too late, as they succumbed to defeat. Despite the strong offensive performance, Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur expressed disappointment with his team's defensive display, emphasizing the need for more "urgency and desperation" and stating it was "not good enough." Arthur stressed, "We need to care more about our defense.

It's not good enough. The boys were a bit flat in the sheds due to that defensive performance.

For the most part, it was good, but we lacked concentration and fell asleep at times. It has got to be more important to us.

I'm happy to support how we want to play, moving the ball and playing footy, but when things don't go our way, and we turn the ball over, we need to defend it. That's the part we've got to do on both sides. We need to be more resilient on our try line and more urgent with desperation.

We just need to care more about our defense." This season, Sky Sports will broadcast every Super League game live, including two exclusive matches per round, with the remaining five matches shown on Sky Sports+.
