Castleford Pull Off Stunning Upset Against Wigan

In a remarkable turnaround, Castleford, who had been struggling in the Betfred Super League, secured a surprising 24-14 victory over Wigan at the Brick Community Stadium. Following a dismal 34-0 loss to Wakefield in their previous league match, Castleford bounced back with a strong second-half performance. The team initially took the lead with an early try from Krystian Mapapalangi, converted by Tom Weaver, silencing the home crowd. Wigan, seeking to level with the league leaders, had a try attempt foiled in the 16th minute when Jai Field was tackled into touch by Mikaele Ravalawa. Wigan eventually got on the board with a try from Dayon Sambou, converted by Adam Keighran, and took the lead shortly before halftime with another try and penalty. However, Castleford regrouped and scored tries through Jack Ashworth and Mapapalangi to reclaim the lead. The team maintained momentum with a fourth try from George Lawler, extending their lead to 10 points. Although a video review disallowed another Castleford try and Wigan successfully challenged a late penalty, Castleford held on for a well-deserved win.
