A late strike from Tomoki Iwata spoiled Hull City's chances of securing a crucial win, as Birmingham City came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium. Joe Gelhardt had given the hosts the lead midway through the first half, but Iwata's stunning long-range effort 13 minutes from time ensured the visitors left with a point. The result extends Hull's winless run to four games, their worst sequence of the season, and leaves them just two points clear of seventh-placed Wrexham with three games remaining.
Gelhardt's 24th-minute goal had given Hull hope of completing a league double over Birmingham, after the Tigers had won 3-2 at St Andrew's in October. However, Birmingham's resilience and determination ultimately paid off, as they fought back to claim a deserved point.
The draw also brought an end to Birmingham's four-game losing streak on the road, and manager Chris Davies praised his team's commitment and character. Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic, meanwhile, acknowledged his side's struggles, but vowed to 'be brave' and push for maximum points from their remaining games.
