American golfer Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from the LIV Golf tournament in Mexico City, citing a wrist injury he sustained during the third round. DeChambeau, who has won two LIV Golf events this season, was 16 strokes behind leader Jon Rahm at the time of his withdrawal. In a statement, DeChambeau explained that he experienced discomfort in his wrist during Saturday's round and decided to pull out to avoid exacerbating the injury. DeChambeau expressed his disappointment at how the week unfolded but wished his team, the Crushers, a strong finish. He plans to get his wrist evaluated and hopes to be ready for the upcoming LIV Golf Virginia event. Mexico's Luis Carrera replaced DeChambeau in the Crushers GC lineup for the final round. This development comes at a time when the LIV Golf League is facing scrutiny following reports that the Saudi Public Investment Fund may end its financial support. LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has assured that the league is funded for the current season and will work to secure its future beyond that.
