Shadasia Green Receives Medical Attention for Brain Hemorrhage Following Loss to Lani Daniels

Following her defeat to Lani Daniels in New York, Shadasia Green underwent treatment for a brain hemorrhage. The bout, which was part of the undercard for Alycia Baumgardner's match against Bo Mi Re Shin at the Madison Square Garden Theater, saw Green compete against Daniels for the unified IBF and WBO super-middleweight titles. After a series of shots from Daniels in the ninth round, the referee stopped the fight and Green was removed from the ring on a stretcher. Green took to social media to express her gratitude, stating, "I lost consciousness due to brain bleeding. However, I am currently in the ICU and on the path to recovery. I will return to claim what is mine, 100 percent." Green had previously become a unified world champion after defeating Britain's Savannah Marshall in an upset last year, making her a potential opponent for US star Claressa Shields, a multi-weight undisputed champion. Green continued, "I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to those who expressed concern and to those who recognized something was amiss during the fight." Green also thanked her promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, and Most Valuable Promotions for their support during her hospital stay. Most Valuable Promotions released a statement saying, "We are working closely with Shadasia and her family. We would like to collectively thank the New York State Athletic Commission, Madison Square Garden, and the hospital for their exceptional care and leadership."
