Matt Fitzpatrick has taken the top spot on the leaderboard after the second round of the RBC Heritage, finishing with a one-stroke lead after scoring an impressive 8-under-par 63. The English golfer had a flawless round, making eight birdies, including a notable 36-foot putt on the 15th hole, at the Hilton Head course. Following an opening round of 65, Fitzpatrick started Friday in a six-way tie for third but now leads the pack with a 14-under-par score at the halfway mark. Viktor Hovland of Norway trails closely behind, retaining his second-place position with a score of 65.
Meanwhile, overnight leader Ludvig Aberg slipped to a joint-fourth position after encountering three bogeys on the back nine. Robert MacIntyre of Scotland is six strokes behind Fitzpatrick after posting a 68, and world number one Scottie Scheffler is seven shots off the pace with a score of 67.
