David Haye Urges Fury and Joshua to Settle Legacy

Former world heavyweight champion David Haye believes the time has come for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to finally face each other in the ring. According to Haye, a two-weight world titlist and former star of British heavyweight boxing, this highly anticipated fight is essential for both boxers' legacies. Haye expressed his conviction that Fury and Joshua need to fight, stating, 'That's the biggest fight they could both possibly have. They should be pushing it, they should be pressing it, they have to be.' He emphasized that both fighters require this matchup to solidify their places in boxing history, adding, 'They both need each other, for their own legacies, different reasons.' Both Fury and Joshua have recently suffered losses to Oleksandr Usyk, with Fury returning to boxing after a year-long break and Joshua recovering from a car accident. Talks are ongoing for the two to meet in the ring this year, potentially after Joshua takes a warm-up bout. Despite acknowledging that both boxers are past their prime, Haye pointed out that what matters most is that they eventually face each other. Drawing a comparison to the fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, which took place at their commercial peak rather than their fighting prime, Haye suggested that this could be Fury and Joshua's most lucrative opportunity. Fury's recent 12 rounds with Arslanbek Makhmudov may have prepared him for the Joshua fight, according to Haye. 'A nice stepping stone to the big one, which is Anthony Joshua,' he said, noting that Makhmudov's size, strength, and fighting style are similar to Joshua's.
