Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to step down as head coach of Catalans Dragons, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, who held the position for nearly a year, revealed that the time spent away from his family had taken a toll on him. After a recent stint back home, he made the difficult decision to leave the team, which is currently sixth in the Super League standings. Initially, Tomkins took on the role as an interim coach but was soon appointed as the permanent head coach. "I've had the opportunity to learn and grow, both personally and professionally, during my time at Catalans Dragons," Tomkins stated. "However, being away from my family for an extended period has been challenging. Following a recent visit home, I've decided it's time for me to move on and bring my tenure at the club to a close." Tomkins expressed his gratitude to the players, staff, and supporters, wishing the team success for the remainder of the season and beyond. His departure comes after being absent from the club's last three fixtures, sparking speculation about his future. Ryan Sheridan, along with assistant coaches Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, will take over as interim head coach, with their first game against the Warrington Wolves on April 18.
