Haye expressed his conviction to Sky Sports, stating that the fight between Fury and Joshua is the most significant one they could have, and that they should be actively pushing for it to happen. He emphasized that both fighters need each other to cement their legacies and to prove who is the better boxer. The former WBA heavyweight champion acknowledged that both Fury and Joshua have lost their world titles to Oleksandr Usyk and are now looking to regain their footing in the sport. Fury has recently returned to boxing after a year-long hiatus, while Joshua is recuperating from a car accident and is expected to start training again soon. There are ongoing discussions for Fury and Joshua to face each other this year, with Joshua likely to have a warm-up bout beforehand. Haye recognizes that both boxers are past their prime, but he believes that the fight can still be a major commercial success, much like the fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Haye also thinks that Fury's recent 12 rounds with Arslanbek Makhmudov have prepared him well for the potential fight against Joshua, as Makhmudov's fighting style and physical dimensions are similar to those of Joshua.
