Sweden's Ludvig Åberg has taken the lead at the RBC Heritage after a stunning opening round, while Robert MacIntyre has made a strong start following a dramatic week at The Masters. Åberg carded a superb eight-under 63 to establish a one-shot lead over Viktor Hovland and Harris English. MacIntyre, meanwhile, has put his Masters controversy behind him to shoot five under and sit three shots back from the leader. World No 1 Scottie Scheffler recovered from a difficult start to shoot three under, while Shane Lowry finished one under and Tommy Fleetwood struggled to five over.
Åberg said he was 'super-pleased' with his round, which included eight birdies and no bogeys. MacIntyre, who was spotted making an obscene gesture at Augusta National, spoke about the challenge of controlling his emotions and said he was trying to put the incident behind him.
