LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has downplayed concerns about the series' funding, stating that it is "funded through the season" and that the organization will "work like crazy" to ensure its continuation. This comes amid speculation that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), which backs the breakaway golf league, may withdraw its financial support.
The PIF has invested a reported $5 billion in the series since its inception in 2021. O'Neil's comments follow remarks by LIV team captain Sergio Garcia, who alluded to funding being in place until 2030. However, O'Neil emphasized that the reality of the business is that funding is secured on a seasonal basis, and the organization must continually work to create a viable business plan to ensure its longevity.
The PIF has not commented on the matter, and no official decision has been made regarding the continuation of funding. Meanwhile, LIV Golf players, including Ryder Cup star Jon Rahm, have expressed confidence in the series' future, with Rahm stating that he is "not too worried" about the speculation surrounding the league's financial backing.
