Three-time Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty emerged victorious in the 100 meters breaststroke event at the Aquatic Great Britain Swimming Championships, with his sights firmly set on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Peaty's impressive time of 58.97 seconds marked the second-fastest time globally this season, hinting at a strong medal prospect in two years. He outpaced world junior champion Filip Nowacki and Max Morgan, finishing in 59.39 and 59.56 seconds, respectively. Despite his success, Peaty acknowledged room for improvement, stating, 'I didn't think I could achieve that result, so that's the new benchmark.' The six-time Olympic medalist expressed his desire to push himself further, striving to achieve a sub-57 second time. Peaty, who has been training rigorously, emphasized his passion for swimming, saying, 'I'm heavily invested in the sport and train daily.' Having taken a break from swimming in 2023 due to mental health concerns, Peaty has reaffirmed his commitment, with the goal of becoming the oldest British swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal in 2028 at the age of 33.
