Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle is set to ride in several key races at Newmarket's Craven meeting, including a promising mount on Derby hopeful Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. This week, Doyle will be in action at Newmarket, where her standout ride will be on Wareeth, trained by Archie Watson, in the Listed Feilden Stakes. The extra distance is expected to suit the son of Sea The Stars, who is taking a significant step up in class after winning his novice race over 1m at Newcastle by an impressive 14 lengths.
Although Wareeth does not currently hold a Derby entry, his performance has been delightful since his racecourse debut. After sitting on him last week, Doyle felt he was in good form, but his true potential will become clearer after this second start.
Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton has an edge in terms of experience, having won his maiden at Goodwood and finished a promising fourth in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud. With a Derby entry and an official rating of 106, he sets the standard. Both Wareeth and Godolphin's Poseidon's Warrior are moving up from novice company and are also entered in the traditional Derby trial, the Group 2 Dante at York. Doyle is expecting a strong run from ZOULU CHIEF in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap, having previously run a lovely race for her at Newmarket.
After a busy winter on the All-Weather, winning at Wolverhampton and giving a good battle at Lingfield Park, ZOULU CHIEF is approaching his prime as a five-year-old. Despite being a few pounds higher than his best winning performance at York in 2023, he looks every bit a 90 horse. Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider HARLEQUIN BREEZE is worth her place in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes, having improved with every run and shown determination over course and distance. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION needs to prove himself on turf, receiving weight from all his rivals in the National Stud Handicap.
Meanwhile, LADY FIZZ, a debutant, takes on fillies from powerful yards over 1m, which may be a minimum trip for her. Doyle is looking forward to riding Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner PRINCE OF INDIA in the Zyn Abernant Stakes, a powerfully built colt who could be a force in stakes sprints.
With a creditable comeback in the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes, he should be spot on for this race. Doyle expects big things from Hawk Mountain, a Group 1 winner, as he makes his return in the Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes.
Another favorite of hers is Karl Burke's Boiling Point, who returns to turf in the Group 3 Betway Earl Of Sefton Stakes, and with a run under his belt, can establish himself as a genuine Pattern performer this season.
