Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his resignation as head coach of Catalans Dragons, citing personal reasons for his departure. Having held the position for nearly a year, Tomkins found it challenging to be away from his family. Following a recent stint at home, he decided to step down after just seven games into the Super League season, with the team currently sitting sixth in the standings. Tomkins initially took on the role as an interim coach after Steve McNamara's exit but was soon appointed as the permanent head coach at the club where he spent the latter part of his playing career. In a statement, Tomkins expressed his gratitude for the experiences and friendships gained during his time at Catalans Dragons, acknowledging that he has grown both personally and professionally. However, the prolonged separation from his family proved too difficult to continue. Tomkins will be replaced by Ryan Sheridan, who will take over as interim head coach alongside assistants Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, starting with their next game against Warrington Wolves on April 18.
