Pattinson's Journey Back to the Top
Cyrus Pattinson is on a mission to revive his career, seeking to extend his winning streak in Newcastle this Saturday. A former top-ranked GB amateur boxer, Pattinson was just one victory shy of qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. After turning pro in 2021 and winning his first six bouts, he established himself as a fan favorite in the North East. Pattinson's thrilling win over ex-British champion Chris Jenkins and his intense battle with Conah Walker showcased his skill, but a loss to Walker in 2023 sent him into a downward spiral. Without a promoter, manager, or trainer, and struggling with a severe eye injury, Pattinson hit rock bottom. "It was a darkest period, and I was just trying to survive each day," he revealed to Sky Sports. However, Pattinson found solace in Billy Nelson's Glasgow gym, initially as a sparring partner for Jack Rafferty and Lewis Crocker. Under Nelson's guidance, Pattinson has secured three consecutive wins and is now set to face Tunde Segun Adeyemi at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. "I've got a tough opponent ahead, but I'm ready for the challenge," Pattinson said. "I always give it my all, and I know I can beat anyone." With his sights set on the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles, Pattinson is determined to prove himself as a top contender. His trainer, Billy Nelson, echoed this sentiment, stating, "Cyrus has made tremendous progress, and I'm confident he can compete at the domestic and European levels."
