Jack Draper Joins Madrid Open Lineup as Katie Boulter Faces Taylor Townsend
The Mutua Madrid Open, set to commence on Tuesday and broadcast live on Sky Sports, has announced its draws. Despite the absence of prominent players such as Emma Raducanu, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic, Britain's Jack Draper has entered the competition, recovering from an injury that forced him to withdraw from the Barcelona Open mid-match. Draper and fellow Briton Cameron Norrie, who reached the quarter-finals in Barcelona, have both received first-round byes. Katie Boulter will face American Taylor Townsend in the first round, with a potential second-round matchup against fifth seed Jessica Pegula. Having defeated Townsend in all their previous encounters, Boulter aims to build on her recent quarter-final appearance in Rouen. Townsend, however, has shown strong form this season, reaching the final of the ATX Open WTA 250 in February. A win for Boulter would pit her against Pegula, who recently secured her second WTA title of the season in Charleston. With Jannik Sinner as the top seed, the tournament promises exciting matches, all of which can be streamed live on Sky Sports or with the Sky Sports app.
