Hull FC Exit Leaves Coach Cartwright Feeling Betrayed

Coach John Cartwright expressed feelings of betrayal and disrespect following the confirmation of his departure from Hull FC. The club announced on April 7 that Cartwright would be leaving at the end of the current Betfred Super League season, but he claims to have received no explanation for the decision. Speaking to reporters, Cartwright stated, "The club decided to part ways, exercising a six-month termination clause. I still haven't been given a reason, despite asking. When the facts are known, people can form their own opinions. Personally, I feel a bit betrayed and disrespected." Cartwright, who took over at the start of the 2025 campaign and led the team to a seventh-placed finish, their highest since 2020, will continue to perform his duties. Hull FC has begun the process of hiring a new coach for the 2027 season and currently sits ninth in the Super League. Cartwright emphasized his loyalty to the players, saying, "My bond with them can never be taken away." He also mentioned that the news took him by surprise, as there was no indication of dissatisfaction with his performance.
