Kent Struggles Against Northamptonshire as Crawley's Form Remains a Concern

Zak Crawley's batting woes continued as he scored his third consecutive sub-30 County Championship score for Kent, while Northamptonshire achieved a record-breaking 684 for two declared at Canterbury. The visitors' top four batsmen, including Ricardo Vasconcelos, Luke Procter, and Calvin Harrison, all reached centuries, a first for the team. Procter's unbeaten 261 led the charge, putting pressure on Kent's batsmen, including the under-pressure England opener Crawley. With his Test spot under scrutiny, Crawley's 26 was a modest effort, and he was dismissed by Harry Conway. Kent closed on 119 for six, with Crawley's England opening partner, Ben Duckett, faring no better, run out for one. Elsewhere, Ben McKinney boosted his chances of displacing Crawley or Duckett with a 244 for Durham against Gloucestershire, while Craig Overton's career-best 141 helped Somerset respond to Essex's 149. Leicestershire fought back against Surrey, thanks to Rishi Patel's unbeaten 133 and Jake Weatherald's 96, and Hampshire took control against Yorkshire, with Sonny Baker and Kyle Abbott claiming four wickets each.
