Augusta National Golf Tournament: Final Results and Leaderboard
The final standings from the Masters golf tournament, the first major event of the year, have been announced, with the competition taking place at the prestigious Augusta National golf course in Augusta, Georgia. Rory McIlroy successfully defended his title, making history as the first player to do so since Tiger Woods, after winning last year's playoff against Justin Rose to become the sixth player to achieve a career Grand Slam. Scottie Scheffler, the world's number one golfer, was the favorite to win the tournament for the third time, despite not having a top-10 finish in his previous three PGA Tour events. McIlroy emerged victorious, finishing one shot ahead of Scheffler, while Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley tied for third place. Other notable players, including Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Max Homa, and Xander Schauffele, also finished in the top 10. The Masters is the first of four major golf tournaments to take place over the next few months, followed by the PGA Championship, the US Open, and the Open. The PGA Tour will now head to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, where Justin Thomas will defend his title. The next major men's golf tournament, the PGA Championship, will be held from May 14-17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
