Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but then faced back-to-back breaks on her own serve. However, she regained her composure to break Ruse to love in the eighth game and level the score at 4-4. Andreeva then broke Ruse again in her next service game to take the set 6-4. The world number ten dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 win in just over an hour. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the other semi-final. Potapova took an early lead, but Vekic fought back before the Russian reasserted her dominance to take the first set. She continued to impress in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before wrapping up the win. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. The pair will meet for the fourth time, with Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they have not yet played each other on clay.
