Carrick: Mainoo Nears New Manchester United Deal
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick has revealed that the club is nearing a new deal with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The 20-year-old's current contract, signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027, but the club is keen to offer him an improved deal that reflects his progress and status within the first team. Mainoo has become a regular in the team since Carrick took over, featuring in each of the last ten Premier League matches. His new contract is expected to be a five-year deal, running until 2031, with a significant pay rise. Carrick expressed his optimism about the deal, stating that it is 'getting closer' and the club is 'positive' about the negotiations. The signing of a new deal would mark a significant turnaround in Mainoo's fortunes at Old Trafford, where he was previously not in the plans of former head coach Ruben Amorim. Since Carrick took over, Mainoo has become an integral part of the team and has also been included in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad.
