Alcaraz and Sinner to Clash in Monte-Carlo Masters Final with Top Spot at Stake

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have advanced to the Monte-Carlo Masters final, setting the stage for their first encounter of 2026. Sinner dominated Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4, while Alcaraz overcame Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-4. The winner of the final will also claim the world No 1 spot on Monday. Sinner has now won 21 consecutive matches in Masters events and 42 of his last 43 sets in these tournaments. He has also achieved eight consecutive wins and 11 straight sets against Zverev. Alcaraz, meanwhile, is seeking his second Monte-Carlo title, and Sinner is aiming for his first. The Italian has won 16 consecutive matches and 38 of his last 40. Sinner expressed his happiness at reaching the final, stating that it means a lot to him, especially on clay. Jamie Murray praised Sinner's performance, calling it 'flawless' and 'complete domination.' Alcaraz, the defending champion, ended Vacherot's impressive run in the semi-finals. Vacherot had previously beaten Lorenzo Musetti, Hubert Hurkacz, and Alex de Minaur. Alcaraz broke serve in the opening set and sealed it with an ace. Although Vacherot mounted a comeback in the second set, Alcaraz proved too strong, winning three successive games to secure the victory. Alcaraz described the final as a 'dream spot' and is excited to face Sinner. The match will be a special one, with the world No 1 spot on the line. Sinner has become the fourth man to reach the final at the first three Masters 1000s in a season, while Alcaraz has joined Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic as the only players to reach 10 ATP 1000 finals before the age of 23.
