According to Michael Carrick, Kobbie Mainoo is nearing a new contract agreement with Manchester United. The 20-year-old midfielder's current deal, which was signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027 and includes a significant pay rise.
Manchester United is eager to reflect Mainoo's progress over the past few seasons with a new five-year deal until 2031. Carrick stated, "We're getting closer, we're positive with that. We're calm with it, but we're positive and only time will tell how it will go.
But we're in a good place with him." Mainoo's future at the club seemed uncertain earlier in the year, but since Carrick took over, he has become a regular fixture in the team, featuring in every Premier League match and earning a spot in Thomas Tuchel's England squad. The signing of a new deal would mark a significant turnaround in his fortunes at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Carrick's own future at the club remains unresolved, but he appears to be on track to become the next permanent manager, having led the team to seven wins in ten games and lifted them to third in the Premier League.
