Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

In a thrilling conclusion to Scotland's premier National Hunt event, Kap Vert emerged victorious, claiming the top prize for trainers Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, with jockey Sean Houlihan aboard. The six-year-old, in only his fifth outing over fences, demonstrated impressive stamina and jumping ability, pulling ahead of rivals Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Despite his relative inexperience, Kap Vert's jumping technique held up well, whereas Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux faltered, committing a critical error early in the home straight and ultimately finishing fourth. Meanwhile, Git Maker nearly lost his rider, Jonathan Burke, after a severe mistake almost a mile from the finish, but managed to recover and secure second place, narrowly edging out the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque. The victory served as a welcome consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and they will return to Somerset with the £112,000 first prize.
