Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in the Linz Open final, her second WTA Tour final of the year, after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but her momentum was halted by consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained control by breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and went on to win the set 6-4 after breaking her opponent's serve once more. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before wrapping up a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova, meanwhile, will be making her first final appearance since winning the title on her debut three years ago, having overcome Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early 4-1 lead but Vekic mounted a comeback, only for Potapova to hold on and claim the first set. She continued to assert her dominance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This win makes Potapova the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, although she represented Russia until December 2025. The final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they are yet to face each other on clay.
