Mercedes Conducting Behind-the-Scenes Efforts to Enhance Race Starts
According to George Russell, the Mercedes team is diligently working to improve their race starts, a weakness they have been struggling with, ahead of the Formula 1 season resuming in Miami. Despite achieving four front row lockouts in the first three Grands Prix and Sprint, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to take the lead after the opening lap. Although the team's pace has allowed them to bounce back and secure wins, they recognize the need to address this issue. Ferrari, on the other hand, has demonstrated exceptional starting capabilities, thanks to their compact turbo design. Russell emphasized that while opportunities to practice starts are limited, the team has been focusing on analyzing data to rectify their weakness. In an interview with Sky Germany during Pirelli tire testing at the Nürburgring, Russell stated that a significant amount of work is being done behind the scenes, including simulator analysis and data examination, to enhance their performance.
