The prestigious Scottish National Hunt prize was won by Kap Vert, trained by Philip Hobbs and owned by Johnson White, who outran Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Having only his fifth start over fences, the six-year-old consistently showed strong form under the guidance of Sean Houlihan. Despite his inexperience, Kap Vert's jumping technique withstood scrutiny, whereas Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux lost his chance after making a significant error early in the home straight and finished fourth. Git Maker, who committed a substantial mistake nearly a mile from the finish, almost lost his rider, Jonathan Burke, but managed to recover and finish second, just a length and a half behind the winner, narrowly edging out the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque.
This victory served as ample consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and they took home the £112,000 first prize.
