Following a medical examination, the two-time Barcelona champion decided to withdraw from the tournament to avoid further injury. In a press conference, Alcaraz expressed his disappointment, stating that he must prioritize his health and recovery to ensure a strong performance in upcoming tournaments, including the French Open.
Meanwhile, British player Cameron Norrie advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Ethan Quinn in a three-set match, while Katie Boulter and Iga Swiatek also progressed in their respective tournaments.
