Manchester City Offers Support to Antoine Semenyo Following Racist Abuse

Manchester City has extended support to Antoine Semenyo after the player shared his experience of facing further racial abuse this season. The 26-year-old forward recently posted on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of a racially abusive comment he received, with the caption 'It's started again.' This incident comes after Semenyo reported being racially abused by a supporter during the season's opening match against Liverpool, while playing for his former side Bournemouth. The referee, Anthony Taylor, had stopped play, and the Ghana international went on to score twice in the 4-2 defeat. A 47-year-old man, Mark Mogan, was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offence, which he denied in court. A trial is set to take place on April 22. The Premier League and the FA have both condemned the racist abuse, stating that racism has no place in the game or society and that they will work together to address the issue and ensure those found guilty face severe consequences. The FA and the Premier League have pledged to support the player and the club, emphasizing their commitment to making the sport a hate-free environment.
