Ekitike Ruled Out for Season and World Cup Due to Achilles Injury

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is set to miss the remainder of the season and the World Cup after suffering a serious Achilles injury. The 23-year-old picked up the injury during the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and scans have confirmed a rupture of the Achilles tendon. As a result, Ekitike will be sidelined for at least six months, with the possibility of an extended absence of up to nine months. France head coach Didier Deschamps expressed his support for the young player, stating that Ekitike had perfectly integrated into the team and that his absence is a huge blow. Ekitike's injury is a significant setback for Liverpool, who are currently fifth in the Premier League and aiming to secure a place in next season's Champions League. The striker has scored 19 goals for Liverpool and France this season, following his £79m transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. His absence adds to Liverpool's injury woes, with several key players having struggled with injuries throughout the season.
