Dan Skelton has expressed his thrill and relief at finally claiming the championship trainer title, after it became mathematically certain that he couldn't be overtaken. Having been narrowly beaten by Willie Mullins in the previous two seasons, Skelton has made a strong statement this season, leading from the start and becoming the first trainer to surpass £4 million in prize money. "It's an amazing feeling, we've put in a lot of effort over the years and come close, only for Willie to pip us at the last minute, but it's fantastic to have finally achieved it," Skelton said, with his current season total standing at £4,762,920 following an impressive Grand National Festival.
