San Siro Stadium in Milan May Host ATP 250 Grass-Court Event Starting 2028

A new grass-court ATP 250 tournament is set to take place in Milan from 2028, with the iconic San Siro stadium being considered as a potential venue. The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation has acquired the rights to the tournament, which was previously held in Brussels. The event will be held annually in June, and although the exact location is yet to be decided, the federation's president, Angelo Binaghi, has hinted that the San Siro's large capacity and northern Italy's climate make it an attractive option. This development is part of Italy's growing presence in professional tennis, which already includes hosting the ATP Finals in Turin and the Rome Masters on clay. Binaghi has also expressed ambitions to elevate the Rome tournament to Grand Slam status, rivaling the likes of Indian Wells. Meanwhile, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner is aiming to make history by becoming the first Italian man to win the singles title at the Foro Italico in 50 years.
