Following his opening match win, Alcaraz experienced wrist pain and underwent medical treatment. Despite being a two-time champion in Barcelona, Alcaraz decided to pull out of the tournament after a test on his wrist revealed a more serious injury. The Spanish player expressed his disappointment, stating that he must prioritize his health and recovery in order to avoid further harm. Alcaraz's withdrawal comes as he was attempting to regain his world No 1 ranking. Meanwhile, British No 1 Cameron Norrie advanced to the quarter-finals after a tough three-set match against American Ethan Quinn. Norrie is set to face Spanish 19-year-old Rafael Jodar, who has yet to drop a set in the tournament. On the WTA Tour, Katie Boulter progressed to the last eight after defeating third seed Jaqueline Cristian, while Iga Swiatek secured a quarter-final berth at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
