Alongside newcomer Cadillac, Aston Martin has failed to impress, with their best finish being Fernando Alonso's 18th place in Japan. The team's current plight is underlined by Lance Stroll's comment that he and his teammate are competing in their own 'Aston Martin championship.' Brundle described the situation as 'painful' and a 'nightmare,' citing the team's lack of speed and reliability. He believes that it will take time to turn things around, especially given the challenges posed by the relentless Formula 1 championship calendar and cost caps. Brundle thinks that Aston Martin's issues will persist until 2027, and that the team needs to get the right people in place and find the right direction. The team is currently missing out on three to four seconds per lap, which is a significant gap to bridge. While Aston Martin and Honda are working to improve their package, including addressing engine vibrations and reliability problems, it will be a while before they can compete with the front runners.
