Alycia Baumgardner believes Caroline Dubois needs to further establish herself as a champion before a potential fight between the two can take place. Baumgardner is set to defend her unified WBA, WBO, and IBF super-featherweight world titles against Bo Mi Re Shin.
Following her recent victory over Terri Harper for the WBC and WBO lightweight world championship, Dubois expressed interest in facing Baumgardner. However, Baumgardner thinks Dubois should continue to build her reputation and possibly become undisputed at 135lbs before calling her out.
Baumgardner stated, 'She needs to put some more skin in the game... I've done my part, I've shown plenty of times that I put on great shows and I became undisputed.' Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promoters, suggested Dubois should focus on cleaning up her division first, potentially facing Stephanie Han, before pursuing a fight with Baumgardner.
Alternatively, Baumgardner could face Caroline Veyre, the WBC belt-holder at 130lbs, in a bid to become the undisputed champion at super-featherweight once again. Dmitriy Salita, Veyre's promoter, expressed confidence in Veyre's ability to come out victorious.
Meanwhile, Most Valuable Promotions is working to establish itself as a major force in women's boxing, with a roster of over 45 fighters, including 16 world champions. The company's goal is to become the reference brand for women's boxing, with a focus on supporting female athletes.
