Itoje Backs Borthwick to Deliver Success with England
Despite a disappointing Six Nations campaign, Maro Itoje has expressed his confidence in Steve Borthwick's leadership, believing England can achieve remarkable feats under his guidance. England's poor performance saw them finish fifth, with four consecutive defeats, including a historic loss to Italy. However, RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney has given Borthwick the opportunity to redeem himself in the upcoming Nations Championship. Itoje acknowledges that England fell short of expectations, having entered the tournament on a strong 11-Test winning streak. Nevertheless, he has faith in Borthwick and his coaching staff, which includes Richard Wigglesworth, Kevin Sinfield, Joe Shaw, and Lee Blackett. "We have trust in our approach," Itoje stated. "Steve and his team are exceptional coaches. We need to come together, learn from our mistakes, and move forward positively. Although our results were not what we had hoped for, my conviction in this team remains unwavering. I firmly believe that this England team will go on to accomplish great things; we just need to learn from our experiences and push forward."
