Garnacho Reflects on Manchester United Departure: 'I Made Some Mistakes'

Alejandro Garnacho has spoken out about his departure from Manchester United, acknowledging that he made mistakes during his final six months at the club. Garnacho left Old Trafford last summer to join Chelsea in a £40m deal after being excluded from Ruben Amorim's first-team squad during pre-season. Prior to his departure, Garnacho was spotted wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford's name on the back, sparking controversy. After United's Europa League final loss to Tottenham, Garnacho's brother claimed that he had been 'thrown under the bus' by Amorim. When asked if he regrets his exit from Old Trafford, Garnacho expressed mixed feelings, stating, 'Maybe yes, because I loved that club. They gave me confidence from the start, bringing me from Spain to the academy and then to the first team.' He added, 'In the last six months, I wasn't playing like before, and I started to do some bad things.' Garnacho has since moved on to Chelsea, where he is proud to be playing in the Premier League. Amorim has also commented on Garnacho's departure, saying, 'You can understand that he's a really talented boy, and sometimes things don't work out.' The Manchester United manager added, 'I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership, and I can understand that.' Meanwhile, Michael Carrick is poised to become the next Manchester United manager, having made a strong case with seven wins in 10 games since January. Carrick has lifted United to third in the Premier League, making a Champions League return increasingly likely.
