England Claim Convincing Win, But Jones and Bern See Room for Improvement

England's Megan Jones and Sarah Bern acknowledged that their team has areas to improve upon, despite kicking off their Women's Six Nations campaign with a 33-12 victory over Ireland. The win marked England's 34th consecutive Test triumph, with Bern scoring two tries and Amy Cockayne, Jess Breach, and Ellie Kildunne each contributing one. Despite securing a bonus-point victory in front of a record-breaking crowd of 77,120 at Allianz Stadium, Jones admitted that the team was not at its best. "Nerves were inevitable going into a major campaign after the World Cup," Jones said, adding that she was proud of her team for finding a way to win. With several key players absent, including World Cup-winning captain Zoe Stratford, Jones led the side for the first time. Bern noted that with a new combination of players and several young teammates, the team was never expected to be perfect. "There were aspects to celebrate and others to reflect on, but the stadium atmosphere was fantastic and helped us secure the win," Bern said.
