Andoni Iraola Set to Depart Bournemouth as Club Shortlists Three Potential Replacements

Bournemouth's head coach Andoni Iraola has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the current season. With his contract expiring in three months, Iraola has rejected multiple offers to extend his stay, amid interest from former club Athletic Club and other Premier League teams. According to Sky Sports News, former RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose is among the three candidates shortlisted to succeed Iraola. Iraola, who has six remaining games at Bournemouth, will depart after a record-breaking three-year tenure on the south coast. "The time has come for me to move on," he stated on the club's website. His final home match will be against Manchester City on May 17, followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest on the last day of the Premier League season. Although Bournemouth attempted to persuade Iraola to stay, they respect his decision and have been searching for a new head coach in the background. The club is currently 11th in the Premier League and still has a chance to qualify for their first European competition. Since his appointment in June 2023, Iraola has implemented an attacking and dynamic style of play, leading the team to a ninth-place finish last season with a club-record 56 points. However, he has had to cope with the sales of several key players, including Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Dango Ouattara, for a total of £253m. Iraola's departure has sparked speculation about his next destination, with Athletic Club expressing interest in bringing him back to the Basque Country. Other clubs, such as Crystal Palace and Tottenham, have also been linked to Iraola, but have either moved on to other targets or appointed new managers. Manchester United and Newcastle are also rumored to be potential destinations, although no official decisions have been made.
