Trans Women Barred from Competing in Female Darts Tournaments

The Darts Regulation Authority has announced a new policy stating that only individuals assigned female at birth can participate in women's darts tournaments. This decision follows a thorough review of the Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included an expert report and extensive legal consultation. As a result, transgender females will no longer be eligible to compete in women's events, although they can still participate in open tournaments. This change has been met with criticism from the trans community, with Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a prominent transgender darts player, expressing her disappointment and describing the decision as a significant setback for trans individuals. The DRA has stated that it aims to be inclusive and will continue to monitor and review its Eligibility Policy in relation to transgender participation in sports.
