Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has reached her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game but then faced back-to-back breaks on her own serve. However, she regained control by breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then took the set 6-4 with another break. The world number ten dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 win in just over an hour. Anastasia Potapova will face Andreeva in the final, having beaten Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the other semi-final. Potapova took an early lead and, despite Vekic's comeback, held on to take the first set. She then built a 4-0 lead in the second set to seal her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. Although she represented Russia until December 2025, Potapova's win makes her the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since 1991. The pair will meet for the fourth time, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two encounters, but they have yet to play each other on clay.
