Wessel Nijman continued his impressive start to 2026, securing his fourth ranking title of the year at the Players Championship 10 in Wigan. He defeated former Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites 8-2 in the final, reclaiming the top spot in the Players Championship rankings. Nijman's victory came after Chris Dobey briefly overtook him following his win at Players Championship Nine. The Dutchman responded with a strong performance, averaging almost 110 in a six-leg win against Adam Gawlas. He then defeated Niels Zonneveld and Beau Greaves, before facing Luke Woodhouse in the semi-finals. Nijman's impressive form continued in the final, as he capitalized on Waites' slow start to establish an early lead. Despite Waites reducing the deficit, Nijman regained control and powered into a 7-1 advantage. Waites managed to double his score, but Nijman sealed the win with a 15-dart hold, finishing with a 101.34 average. Nijman reflected on his performance, stating it was 'probably the best floor event' he had played all year. He expressed his happiness with his overall performance and is now targeting more success in the upcoming European Darts Grand Prix. Nijman has broken into the top 18 on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder and is aiming to reach the top 16. Elsewhere, Beau Greaves impressed with back-to-back quarter-final appearances, defeating Martin Schindler and Cameron Menzies.
