Tiger Woods Receives Support from Golfing Greats Amid Health Struggles
Golf legends Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have expressed their support for Tiger Woods, who is currently absent from the Masters due to health issues. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has been dealing with the aftermath of a car accident and is seeking treatment. Player, who has been an honorary starter at the Masters, sympathized with Woods' chronic pain but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his safety, particularly when it comes to driving. 'If I or anyone in this room had to endure the excruciating pain that Tiger Woods has been experiencing for a long time, we would understand his struggles,' Player said. 'While I don't condemn him for taking medication to manage his pain and sleep deprivation, I strongly advise against driving under the influence of such medication, as it poses a significant risk to himself and others.' Player suggested that Woods consider hiring a chauffeur to mitigate this risk. 'My heart goes out to him, and I hope he can find a solution to his health issues, as he is a valuable asset to the golf community and has made significant contributions to the sport,' Player added. Nicklaus, who holds the record for most major championships with 18 wins, also extended his support to Woods, urging him to focus on his recovery and return to golf when he is ready. 'Golf needs him, and we would love to have him back,' Nicklaus said. Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley expressed the organization's support for Woods' decision to prioritize his health and well-being, stating that their commitment to Woods and his foundation remains unwavering.
