Double Injury Setback for England in Women's Six Nations
A significant blow has been dealt to England's Women's Six Nations campaign, as both Morwenna Talling and Natasha Hunt have been sidelined due to injuries sustained during the team's 33-12 victory over Ireland at the Allianz Stadium. The match, which drew a record crowd of 77,120, saw Talling and Hunt suffer leg injuries in the second half. Talling, who started the game, was forced off after 43 minutes, while Hunt, who came on as a substitute, lasted only 13 minutes before being replaced due to her injury. This latest setback means that Talling joins a list of locked-out players, including Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, and Rosie Galligan, who have all withdrawn from the tournament due to pregnancy. England's head coach, John Mitchell, acknowledged the loss, stating, 'We've lost four international locks, so we might end up being a team of back-rowers by the end of the competition. There are different ways to approach this game, and if we need to rely on back-rowers, we'll make it work.' Talling and Hunt will remain with the England squad to consult with specialists before beginning their rehabilitation at their respective clubs, Sale and Gloucester-Hartpury. In response to these injuries, the RFU has confirmed that Sydney Gregson and uncapped player Haidee Head have joined the squad to prepare for the upcoming match against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
