Dan Skelton Celebrates Historic Trainer's Title Victory

Dan Skelton has expressed his elation at finally claiming the champion trainer title, a feat that has been narrowly missed in previous seasons. With his current total standing at £4,762,920 for the season, following an impressive Grand National Festival, Skelton has made history by becoming the first trainer to break the £4million barrier in prize money. Speaking about his achievement, Skelton said, "It's truly amazing; we've worked tirelessly over the years to get close, only to be pipped at the post by Willie Mullins. But it's fantastic to have finally achieved it. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire team, and I'm grateful to the owners who have supported me throughout. The horses have been exceptional, and I must thank the staff for their efforts. It's an incredible feeling to have crossed the finish line, and we're thrilled to have done it for the owners and to be surrounded by our horses. It's an absolute pleasure to have accomplished this. In recent years, Skelton has faced intense competition from Mullins in the final weeks of the season. However, with Mullins' representation expected to be limited in the remaining two weekends, the path is clear for Skelton to bask in the glory of his achievement. Mullins, who trails Skelton by £2,094,034, conceded defeat and congratulated Skelton on his victory. This has paved the way for Skelton to relish his triumph, which includes six winners during the three days at Aintree, including Grade One victories with Grey Dawning, Mirabad, and Bossman Jack. Skelton will receive the trophy for the first time at Sandown Park on April 25.
